  • Some useful general volumes on the Ancient Near East that are on reserve at the Rock. These are always great to check for historical contextual evidence:
    • Civilization of the Ancient Near East edited by Jack Sasson. 4 volumes. Hundreds of good articles.
    • A companion to the ancient Near East. This is a brand new publication, online...
    • The ancient Near East by Amelie Kuhrt. Best historical overview of the ancient Near East, from prehistory to Alexander.
    • The Oxford encyclopedia of archaeology in the Near East American Schools of Oriental Research ; Eric M. Meyers, editor in chief.
