About Me: I am currently a second-year Egyptology graduate student at Brown University specializing in Egyptian archaeology with a focus on trade and cultural interactions between Egypt and the Mediterranean (especially eastern Crete). I am originally from Houston, Texas and my first year of college I attended Tulane University where I studied Anthropology until Hurricane Katrina, after which I transferred to the College of Charleston, where I graduated with Bachelor's degrees in Anthropology and Classics and a minor in Archaeology summa cum laude in 2008. I have worked on several projects in the Mediterranean, including the Iklaina Archaeological Project near Pylos, Greece, the Keros Archaeological Project, and most recently the Priniatikos Pyrgos Project in eastern Crete. I have also worked in Abydos, Egypt and on the remote sensing data for the Euchaita/Avkat Survey Project in Avkat, Turkey. My interests are heavily influenced by years of fieldwork and study in Classical Archaeology and Aegean Prehistory, and I hope through my research to find a way to incorporate archaeological theory into the broader context of Egyptian archaeology, which is unfortunately a neglected area in Egyptology and often a source of dispute between scholars in the two fields. I also have a growing interest in the Near East, particularly the relationship between the Egyptian New Kingdom and the Hittites, issues of cultural identity and nationalism in archaeology, Ptolemaic Egypt, and the phenomenon of Egyptian-style imitation wares and art motifs abroad.
