Sirkeli Archaeological Project: a joint research project of the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen and the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi under the patronage of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences ("Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften"). The team is excavating a Late Bronze age-Hellenistic site immediatelly above a series of Hittite rock reliefs, facing Ceyhan River valley in Cilicia.
Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, signed in Ramsar, Iran, in 2 February 1971, is an intergovernmental treaty which provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources. There are presently 159 Contracting Parties to the Convention, with 1833 wetland sites, totaling 170 million hectares, designated for inclusion in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance. Republic of Turkey has joined this convention in 1994.
