Event, Place, Performance - Beysehir Lake Basin, Central Turkey - In July 2008 I served as a research assistant to professor Omur Harmansah on a reconnaissance season in central Turkey focusing on the relationship between Hittite rock-relief sites and springs, both natural and artificial. In addition to looking at the specifically "Hittite" landscape (if there is such a thing), we explored interactions with the landscape of the Beysehir Lake Basin over a deep temporal range. The goal of the project is to investigate issues of place-making and various multi-temporal interactions with specific sites. While future investigations are not yet well established, goals might include the study of the nature of place-making at such sites on a supra-regional level, analyzing the "contended" landscapes from a micro-practice level, to regional investigations in the vicinity of relief and spring sites.

Anglo American Project in Pompeii - Pompeii, Italy - I worked for 5 seasons with the Anglo-American Project in Pompeii (AAPP) between 2001 and 2006. Starting in 1994, the project began with the systematic excavation of the House of the Vestals, then moved on to investigate the entire insula, VI.1. Under the direction of Dr. Rick Jones, University of Bradford, and Dr. Damian Robinson, Oxford University, the goals of the project were to gain an understanding of the socio-economic complexity of this insula and its change over the course of five centires of urban development. For three seasons I led teams in the excavation of the House of the Surgeon.

Ostia Antica - Ostia, Italy - In June 2005 I worked as a volunteer on an excavation under the direction of Evelyne Bukowiecki of the Ecole Francaise de Rome. The focus of excavation was on a castellum acquae located in the vicinity of the necropolis.

Caesarea Maritima - Caesarea, Israel - In the summer of 2000 I participated on this project as a field student. The excavation was directed by Dr. A. Raban, University of Haifa and Dr. Ken Holum, University of Maryland
