I am a fourth year Doctoral student at the Joukowsky Institute of Archaeology and the Ancient World
(self portrait at Afrodisias)
My
Research Interests are focused generally on the Roman world. I recently took and passed comprehensive exams on: Urban development (with a focus on the city of Rome and the cities of Roman Asia Minor), Cults and cult practices of the Roman Empire, and Theoretical and Archaeological perspectives on the Body and Bodily practices. I am now working to incorporate these interests into a dissertation topic. I have excavated at Pompeii and Ostia Antica in Italy, Caesarea Maritima, Israel, and done architectural survey at Gordion, Turkey. I worked as a tour guide in Rome for two years, intimately learning the topography of the city and eating my weight in pizza and gelato. I also have interests in museums and while at Brown have pursued additional curriculum in the Public Humanities and helped mount the exhibition 'Believing Africa' at the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology.
