Your final paper is expected to be a 8-12 page research paper, on a monument or monuments from the ancient world (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Classical and Hellenistic Greece, Roman Empire). I would like you to focus on some concrete examples but also explore issues of pictorial narrative while writing about your monument. You will have 10-15 minute presentations on their monuments in the final week of classes, and the day of your presentation your drafts will be due. Both Nathan (Writing Fellow) and I will read your drafts and give you feedback by Dec 9 and your final papers are due Dec 16. The main criterion about the paper is that you are responsible to make use of the theoretical concepts covered in class, while specifically focusing on your individual monuments, about which you are asked to do in-depth library research. You were also asked to use Author-Date humanities style referencing along with a bibliography and necessary images.
