CV| I am a third-year graduate student in archaeology in the Department of Anthropology at Brown. My work uses a multi-stranded approach to the study of the past that emphasizes both material and documentary evidence in the combination that tells the most resonant, accurate, and equitable histories. I am particularly interested in the relationships within and between Native American, African American, and Euro American groups in New England, and how those relationships have been and continue to be represented. In recent years, my work has investigated the link between the English New England fur trade and settlement, intentional misrepresentation in a 17th-century ship captain's logbook, and the connection between social memories of warfare and gravestone use. I anticipate drawing on these themes in my dissertation research, which will study cultural encounters in southern Rhode Island after King Philip's War.
