On 12th February, 2008, a meeting of 'Brown Students for Barack Obama' was held in RI Hall 201. It was in wake of the upcoming primary in Rhode Island, and had speakers from the campaign talk to the students about how they could get involved and help gather support in the Providence community through canvassing. It is an interesting example of how RI Hall is used as convenient extra space on campus, as the classroom of 201 was not an ideal place for the meeting, and the building had only been kept open for this purpose.
